EVAPORATION - AROHANA Evaporation was understood to be a dispersion of fluid particles due to the nodana (impelling push) or abhigata (impact) of the heat particles of the sunrays, while the ascent of fluid particles considered a result of the impact or push in contact with the air. Sankara Misra observed that boiling involved a like process - ascent of water particles caused by the tejah-paramanu (heat corpuscles). Vedic literature mentions the condensation of water vapour from seas and oceans due to evaporation (caused by the Sun's heat) and the subsequent formation of clouds and rain.
